HELP & HOPE FOR PARENTSSupport for parents of teens in crisisPractical resources, real stories, and hope for parents navigating a child’s mental health crisis — from a parent who has been through it.
Behind every teen in crisis is a parent who is scared, exhausted, and wondering if things will ever get better.
I know because I’ve been that parent. My daughter struggled with self-harm and suicidality starting at age 11. I didn’t know where to turn. I didn’t know who to call. I just wanted to talk to someone who had made it through the darkness and found the light at the end.
I never found that person. So I became her.
Help & Hope for Parents is a free collection of resources, lived-experience stories, and professional support for parents of teens and young adults facing self-harm, suicidality, eating disorders, substance use, and severe emotional distress. You don’t need a diagnosis to belong here. You just need to know you’re not alone.

“My teenager told me they want to die and I have no idea what to do.”
“I’m holding it together at work but falling apart at home.”
“I feel like I’m failing as a parent.”
If any of that sounds like you — you’re in the right place. These feelings are normal. They don’t mean you’re failing. They mean you’re paying attention. And there is a path forward.
I’m Maya Kumits — a parent, an ICF-credentialed executive coach, and someone who has navigated the worst years of her life and come out the other side with her daughter thriving.
I created Help & Hope for Parents because the support I desperately needed didn’t exist. I want to be the person I wished I’d had: someone who understands the clinical landscape and has lived it. Someone who knows what it means to hold down a demanding job while your world is falling apart at home. Someone who can look you in the eye and tell you — with certainty — that there is hope.
